#42 - Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Hello dear readers.

I'll be away for 2 weeks for a family vacation. I'll be heading to this place where they shoot this particular scene;

For this particular movie.

No prize for guessing whether En. Suami and I would re-enact the scene.

Please pray for our safety.

Take care and much love.

#41 - La La La Kerjalah

For almost 2 weeks now, I've "seconded" to a different unit to assist a team with their workload. Although it's not something that I want to do anymore but if I want to be permanently placed here in the oganization, I have to do it.

Compared to my previous unit, this is more noisy and busy unit. The teammates are different and obviously I prefer my previous teammates. Ok, maybe I'm bias but yeah.

Shared my concerns with my friends and somehow my previous Superior also got to know that I'm not very happy at the new place but I told her, I'll survive.

Another 6 days to go and I'm sure I can do this.

All the best!

#40 - Wishful Thinking

I am 29 and 1 month today. Let's see whether I managed to get everything on my wish list;

1) A new camera: Insya Allah will be getting my Canon EOS1100D tomorrow. Alhamdulillah.

2) A new battery for Cammy: Cammy is in a very bad condition. Need to bring her to the Centre.

3) A short holiday: :)

4) Gathering with the loved ones. My friend organized a surprise party. Awesome.

5) A black handbag: Yes! My boss got me a Charles & Keith bag.

6) Clark shoes: Nope

7) iPad cover and screen protector. Nope but maybe later

4 out of 7. Coolness.

#39 - Steal That Look

When I go for a holiday, I really put an effort on what clothes I put in my luggage. I would make sure the clothes is not repeated from the recent holiday. And if I have to repeat, I have to make sure that I mix and match differently so it does not look repetitive.

Normally, I would take more than a week to decide. And this is what I normally do when I have to start packing for clothes to bring;

Step 1: Check the weather report. Is it going to be summer, spring, autumn or winter? So far, I've traveled in spring and autumn. Spring in Hong Kong. Autumn in Melbourne.

Step 2: Try to recall what clothes do I have in my closet. Do I need to get new jacket or top? Normally, I would try not to buy new clothes because I seriously need the money to shop overseas.

Step 3: Mix n Match with whatever I have.

Step 4: Once I have the idea on what to wear, I would try them on first. Have a feel. If everything is ok, put them in the luggage. Continue Step 3 and 4 until complete.

Here's some of styles I wish I could rock during my holiday.

Love the style. Taken from Wendy's Look Book

Now, the challenge is to make do with everything that I have and create the same look.

All the best!

#38 - Stepford Wife

I prepared dinner last night after a very long hiatus from the kitchen. There was always dinner with families or friends.

At the office, I already planned what I want to cook. Since I forgot to take out the chicken from the freezer in the morning so I decided to make the next best thing; fried rice. Nasi goreng belacan to be exact. I googled on the recipe (yes, I am that noob) and finally settled with the simplest way of making it.

As I was very excited of making the dish, it was such a sickening moment when you found out the belacan that you know was in the fridge is no longer edible. Then, instead of using the traditional belacan, I used the belacan seasoning. And it didn't turn out to be something like you imagined.

IMAGINE THE FRUSTRATION.

I was close to tears at that time but I kept it together and started to prepare the table for dinner.

Despite En. Suami kept having second and third helpings, I felt bad. I felt that I am such a bad cook that I can't even prepare a decent meal for my husband. At the end of my meal, I started crying.

En. Suami said I have such a high standard in my cooking whereas he felt that it was ok.

Maybe I have too high expectation. I wanted everything to be perfect, you know the Stepford Wife perfect but it's getting out of control. I should learn to let loose.

Sigh.

#37 - Job Application 101

As a recruiter, I am always exposed to many kind of personalities and resumes. Trust me, reading resumes can be a source of entertainment.

Don't get me wrong. As much as I appreciate good resumes, there are still people who are taking resume for granted. No matter how good you are in your work but if you don't translate everything into your resume, people won't notice you.

So, make you sure you really put an effort to produce a good resume.

But then again. Good resume must also come with good attitude. Here's some tips/do's/don'ts:

1) If you are sitting in front of your boss or a very nosy colleague, do let us know that it's not convenient to talk. Or maybe you are in a train or in a public place, let us know! Suggest a good time for us to call you back. It's ok. We won't strike off your name from our list. There are a few incidents that we have to shout because the candidates cannot hear and still insisting to continue the conversation. Do you want the whole wide world to know how much you are earning?

2) Let me tell you one thing. If you are approached by a recruiter or a headhunter, do not be afraid. You don't have to pay them anything to have a discussion with them. In fact, they are giving you the opportunity for a career growth. They are not selling you products or services. So, don't be afraid or be very annoyed. If you are not looking out, tell them so. If you are rude, there's a possibility that we won't consider you in the future at all. Regardless how good you are.

3) When you applied for a position, make sure you read through the job description. Know your strength, skills and qualification. If you are a Civil Engineering graduate, do not apply for a Pharmaceutical position. Don't laugh. It happened. Really makes us want to strangle somebody.

Regardless to many interesting personalities, I do find joy in my work. My friends keep coming back to me and ask for tips or any HR matters. Makes me feel important. Glad I could help them and to you who happen to read my blog.

Till then.

#36 - Another Snapshot

This is what I've been up to:

1) My friend AAK organized a surprise birthday party for me which was so cool. Although I kind of sense something but it was so sweet of her. The best part, I got to celebrate with my twinnie.

2) The next day, I got indigestion problem and been vomiting every time I tried to eat something.

3) My office also organized a birthday party for February babies. I got a Charles & Keith's handbag and a necklace from Diva. Yes, at least I can strike off one item from my wishlist.

4) Went back to En. Suami's hometown and do nothing. Bliss.

5) Went for an interview on Monday. I was there from 9am until 1pm. IMAGINE! Had to do 3 tests including maths test. Had to wait for an hour before my face to face interview. Was so close of leaving the office when the officer called me in. But after the interview, I decided to withdraw my application because I'm not cut out to do heavy duty travelling.
